Amancaya - New Hotel in Exuma, The Bahamas

In the Exumas, where the Atlantic fractures into crystalline blues and untouched cays stretch toward the horizon, Amancaya emerges as a new expression of ultra-discrete island luxury, a destination where architecture disappears into landscape and time slows to the rhythm of the sea.

Amancaya, The Bahamas – A New Island Sanctuary Where Luxury Dissolves Into Nature

Book Amancaya

A Hidden Archipelago in the Exumas

Set across two secluded private cays in the Exumas, Bahamas, Amancaya occupies one of the most extraordinary island landscapes in the Caribbean. Here, the water is impossibly clear, shifting between pale turquoise and deep sapphire, while white-sand beaches remain untouched and endlessly quiet. The setting is defined by remoteness and purity, yet also by proximity to one of the world’s most exclusive island chains. Accessible yet profoundly isolated, the destination embodies the new frontier of Caribbean luxury, where privacy and nature define the experience more than any built structure.

Aman’s First Chapter in the Bahamas

Developed by Aman Group, Amancaya marks the brand’s first destination in the Bahamas and its continued expansion across the Caribbean. The project is developed in partnership with Swiss investor and philanthropist Dona Bertarelli, reinforcing Aman’s strategy of creating ultra-low-density sanctuaries in the world’s most pristine environments. Designed as a long-term vision rather than a traditional resort development, Amancaya reflects the core Aman philosophy: absolute privacy, architectural restraint, and deep immersion in place.

A Landscape-Shaped Architecture Across Two Private Cays

The resort is planned across approximately 400 acres of natural terrain, distributed between two private islands. Rather than imposing itself on the environment, the architecture follows the contours of land, light, and water, preserving the raw character of the Exumas. The development includes a limited collection of pavilions and private residences, complemented by shared amenities such as a marina, beach club, and wellness spaces. Everything is designed with intentional restraint, allowing nature to remain the dominant presence, while architecture serves as a quiet frame rather than a focal point.

Pavilions and Residences: A Study in Privacy

Amancaya will feature around 36 pavilions alongside a limited collection of fully serviced private residences. The residences, designed as multi-bedroom private homes, range from three to five bedrooms and are conceived for complete seclusion within the landscape. Interiors follow Aman’s signature aesthetic language: natural materials, soft tonal palettes, and an almost monastic sense of calm. Floor-to-ceiling openings dissolve boundaries between inside and outside, allowing the ocean breeze and shifting light to define the atmosphere throughout the day.

Dining Across Two Islands

Culinary experiences at Amancaya are envisioned as a series of intimate, place-driven moments rather than conventional restaurants. The destination will include a selection of dining venues distributed across both islands, each reflecting a different interpretation of the Bahamian environment. Menus are expected to highlight local seafood, Caribbean flavors, and globally influenced techniques, always anchored in seasonality and simplicity. Dining becomes part of the landscape experience itself, shaped by ocean views, barefoot settings, and the rhythm of island life.

Wellness, Marina Life, and Slow Island Living

Wellness at Amancaya extends beyond the traditional spa model. A dedicated Aman Spa will anchor the experience, complemented by open-air wellness spaces designed to integrate sea, wind, and sun into daily rituals. The marina and beach club further expand the lifestyle dimension of the resort, allowing direct access to sailing, exploration, and the surrounding cays. Life here is intentionally unstructured, defined by movement between water, sand, and silence. The philosophy is not escape, but immersion, a return to elemental living in its most refined form.

A New Definition of Caribbean Ultra-Luxury

Amancaya is part of a broader shift in the Exumas, where ultra-luxury developments are reshaping the archipelago into one of the most exclusive destinations in the world. Recent years have seen increasing interest from leading hospitality brands seeking low-density, high-privacy island environments. Within this landscape, Amancaya stands apart not through spectacle, but through restraint. It is a project defined by absence as much as presence, where what is not built is as important as what is.

A Quiet Icon in the Making

Still under development, Amancaya represents a long-term vision of island hospitality, one that prioritizes sustainability, discretion, and harmony with nature. Its ambition is not to dominate the Bahamas, but to blend into it, almost invisibly. When it opens, it is expected to become one of the most private and sought-after island retreats in the Caribbean, offering a rare synthesis of design, nature, and absolute stillness.
