Iniala Valletta - New hotel suites in Malta
A New Chapter for a Landmark in Valletta
Located within the UNESCO World Heritage city of Valletta, Iniala Valletta continues its evolution with a major expansion planned for 2026. Since the opening of its first wing, Harbour House, in 2020, the hotel has established itself as a distinctive destination where contemporary design, personalized hospitality and Maltese heritage meet in perfect harmony. Led by General Manager Claudia Schwarze, this next chapter will introduce three new experiences: the Solis wing, the Magistero wing and the FrancoMaria Suite. Together, these additions will bring 21 new keys to the property, marking an important step toward Iniala’s ambition to reach 90 rooms by 2027 and 150 by 2030. For founder Mark Weingard, Iniala Valletta was always imagined as something beyond a traditional hotel. The vision was to create a new expression of luxury where world-class design, exceptional gastronomy and transformative wellness become the foundation of a deeply immersive stay.
Solis, A Sunlit Retreat Between Heritage and Modernity
Opening on July 17, 2026, Solis will occupy a historic Maltese palazzo located just behind the original hotel. Transformed by Madrid-based studio A-cero, the new wing will reinterpret traditional Maltese architecture through a contemporary lens, blending heritage details with a bold and refined design approach. The highlight of Solis will be the Solis Club, an exclusive rooftop experience featuring a pool overlooking Valletta’s iconic skyline and the Grand Harbour. The rooftop will also introduce Anaalā, a signature restaurant led by chef Ian Kittichai, bringing a sophisticated culinary destination to the city’s evolving dining scene. Each suite will be designed as a unique architectural retreat, featuring bespoke furnishings, natural stone surfaces and carefully curated lighting that enhances the raw beauty of local globigerina limestone. The interiors will celebrate the contrast between ancient materials and modern craftsmanship, creating spaces that feel timeless yet entirely contemporary.
Magistero, A Bold Design Statement on Republic Street
Set to open in October 2026, Magistero will introduce a more experimental interpretation of luxury hospitality. Located on historic Republic Street, this new wing will feature 11 suites designed by Verter Turroni of Italy’s Imperfetto Lab. Described as a 21st century statement, Magistero will focus on immersive design and innovative guest experiences. Traditional hotel concepts will be reimagined, including the replacement of conventional televisions with a cinematic installation using Hisense L9Q Laser Projectors, transforming entire walls into private cinema screens paired with high-performance Devialet sound systems. The result will be an intimate, residential atmosphere where technology enhances rather than interrupts the experience, allowing guests to enjoy a stay that feels both personal and extraordinary.
A New Culinary Destination in Valletta
With the expansion, Iniala Valletta will further strengthen its reputation as a gastronomic destination. By late 2026, the property will host four signature dining experiences, including the arrival of SiR by Simon Rogan. This new restaurant will join Anaalā by Ian Kittichai, creating a diverse culinary landscape within the hotel. Each venue will offer a distinct identity, combining creative cuisine, refined service and unforgettable settings across the property. Rather than following a traditional hotel dining model, Iniala approaches gastronomy as an essential part of the travel experience. Guests will discover spaces where food, architecture and atmosphere come together to create memorable moments throughout their stay.
The FrancoMaria Suite, A Tribute to Valletta’s Past
Among the most personal additions to the expansion is the FrancoMaria Suite, named after the residents who lived in the space for more than 60 years. This unique suite will preserve the historic character of the building while introducing custom-designed furniture and a distinctly residential atmosphere. The concept reflects the feeling of a private Maltese home, where original architecture and contemporary luxury exist side by side. More than simply a place to stay, the FrancoMaria Suite will offer guests a rare opportunity to experience the soul of Valletta through a space shaped by generations of local history.
Wellness, Technology and the Future of Hospitality
The transformation of Iniala Valletta will also extend to its wellness offering. Formerly known as Iniala Modern, Vitalis is undergoing a complete refresh, with five harbour-facing suites redesigned to align with the property’s evolving identity. In September 2026, the launch of Within will introduce a new longevity-focused wellness ecosystem featuring elevated treatment rooms and a new cold plunge pool. The concept reflects the growing demand for wellness experiences centered around recovery, balance and long-term wellbeing. The guest journey will also be enhanced through OneAvant, a next-generation guest management system designed to provide seamless digital control throughout the stay, from room preferences to personalized experiences.
Iniala Valletta, A New Definition of Urban Luxury
With this ambitious expansion, Iniala Valletta continues to redefine the boundaries between hotel, private residence and cultural destination. In a city where every street reveals centuries of history, the property creates a new way of experiencing luxury: more intimate, more artistic and deeply connected to its surroundings. Valletta becomes the setting for a new generation of hospitality, where heritage, creativity and innovation come together to create an unforgettable Mediterranean escape.
